Balvenie’s Luxury Scottish Whisky for the man who has everything. We recently had the pleasure of attending the London tasting of the second chapter of The Balvenie’s super premium and limited whisky collection.
At the historic Stafford Hotel in St. James.
St. James is a part of London steeped in historic food and beverage suppliers, many of them with Royal Warrants so the fantastically atmospheric wine cellars of the Stafford Hotel seemed a highly suitable location.
As one of the first people in the world to try this latest edition of the collection I sat along a long table, feeling somewhat that an exam was going to commence, however soon all I could think about was the feeling of warmth and a tad Scottish, well I am about one eighth and yearning for my Macdonald tartan.
After our discussion about whether we should be drinking whisky with or without food, I got stuck into some fantastic British cheeses and chutneys which I think work particularly well.
The evening as led by The Balvenie’s Brand Ambassador James Buntin and David Stewart MBE spoke first-hand via a livestream from Warehouse 24 at the Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown, about the inspiration behind Chapter Two’s expressions and his prestigious 54-year long career.

The theme of Chapter Two is ‘The Influence of Oak’ – which celebrates the behaviour of liquids during maturation and David Stewart MBE’s deep understanding of this process
Chapter Two whiskies are as follows: 1972 Aged 43 years, 1990 Aged 25 years, 1990 Aged 26 years, 1997 Aged 19 years, 2001 Aged 15 years
Only 50 Chapter Two sets are being released worldwide
The Chapter Two set is presented in a beautiful hand-crafted box, designed and crafted by Scottish wood worker Sam Chinnery
The full set of Chapter Two whiskies is valued at £20,000
Individual bottles from the chapters will be available to buy, with Chapter Two bottles ranging in value from £700 to £15,000
I do not want to ramble on about the honies and fragrances or the length of time they are stored for or the type of wood used, for yes these are all of importance but I am here to tell you as a lover of excellence, a supporter of passion and someone who regularly experiences the best on offer, I left that evening with a glow in my heart, and a smile and a true belief that these people really do know their stuff.
So if you are a whisky connoisseur or buying for one I think you will be impressed.
