As we approach the end of summer it’s a fantastic time to think of some of the highlights and mark our card!! The Qatar Goodwood festival takes place annually at the end of July
For whatever reason you go to the races: the horses, the company, the enjoyment, the style I genuinely feel Glorious Goodwood is at the top.
Now the Qatar Goodwood Festival the whole event exudes class.
Set in stunning surroundings this is England at its best and is a must for your social diary.
Gentlemans Butler was lucky enough to have been invited courtesy of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani.
So on Ladies Day, along with a select group of journalists we headed down from London to the glorious Sussex countryside and the Goodwood Racecourse.
Our day was unashamedly high end with hospitality in the Qatar Box,
a glorious lunch, where I have to take my hat off to Goodwood for the beautiful presentation.
We had the pleasure of not only a supremely tasty lunch but some delightful conversation with colleagues from Tatler and Qatar Airways.
It’s a must to wander around the whole grounds, from the cheap seats so to speak and standing on the rail to viewing the horses walk around the paddock.
I love watching people and there are certainly characters, but did not miss my afternoon tea!
Ladies’ Day is the most glamorous day of the festival, and is truly the place to see and be seen.
The Group 2 Qatar Goodwood Cup is the highlight of the seven race card and now worth £300,000. The day begins with the celebrity ladies’ race, the Magnolia Cup and it is particularly unique as every aspect of the race involves brilliant, prominent and high profile ladies, these participants will take on the role of Jockeys, Silks Designers, and Team Supporters.
The Magnolia Cup provides a fun and colourful start to the day, with riders sporting silks created by high profile fashion designers. Previous winners have included supermodel and last year’s Ladies’ Day ambassador Edie Campbell.
The day is open for anyone to attend, from friends and family who wish to dress to impress on this day of fashion, while enjoying fine food and drink in beautiful rural surroundings.
The celebratory scenes in the winner’s enclosure post-race add to the atmosphere as sporting endeavour and prestige combine to create an enchanting social occasion. 8 races with the feature race being The Qatar Goodwood Cup (Group 2).
Again I cannot recommend this enough and with a healthy sponsorship deal from Qatar for Goodwood I think the future is very bright.
