Kuala Lumpur, 24 hrs of luxury shopping & pampering
Perfect for a couple wanting some dedicated me time, ahhh yes you have been watching too many romantic comedies and episodes of Sex and The City!!!
Or maybe you are on a work trip and have a day off but you want it in 5 star luxury and then there was that list of presents, ahhh well that can all be taken care of as well.

Kuala Lumpur or as the cool cats refer to it as KL is the capital of Malaysia, a country made up of loving people, a melting pot of Asian cultures, religions with European flavours coming from the English, Dutch and Portuguese, obviously all wrapped up in the Hibiscus, the Malay national flower.

For many people travelling to a country the request for time spent in the main city is a popular one.
Where better to start our love story than in Kuala Lumpur as this is where the Klang and Gombak rivers meet. Kuala Lumpur is a Malay term which translates to “muddy confluence”
With its origins in the 1850s, when the Malay Chief of Klang, Raja Abdullah, hired some Chinese labourers to open new and larger tin mines for tin prospectors.
Having just returned from a fascinating trip to the country Gentlemans Butler would like to extend a hand of friendship & peace to a country that needs a little love in 2014.
We would like to bring you some of the best on offer as part of our
“Kuala Lumpur, 24 hrs luxury, shopping & pampering” package.
This is not set in stone but represents a good benchmark to be adapted as requested.

Gentlemans Butler aims to create experiences that capture a feeling and are creative and with our colleagues these can last for anything between half a day to much longer. It is our mix of media production background combined with our love to create stories that hopefully offer’s something slightly different.

For Kuala Lumpur we feel the perfect day should include.
Friendship – Your facilitator will do this type of work throughout the year and have some character to make sure you feel your day is bespoke and you are not just part of a factory.
Pampering – A key part for any Gentlemans Butler experience. I genuinely felt the people to be welcoming which is a large emotional plus, but when visiting Malaysia you have to have a massage.
Shopping – Yes the Malay and in particular the Asians love to shop and they love the art of shopping, so be prepared to lower your stiff British upper lip and get involved. Whether you wish to enter Prada/Dior heaven or search out the street craft markets the choices are endless.
Culture – There is a fascinating history to tell and is told in many ways.
And did anyone mention The Butler, well I think we know someone !!!
Your Day to be a Prince or maybe a Princess ….

Night till – 1030 – Take it EASY…let everyone else do the work…..
Book into The Majestic Hotel. A wonderful fusion of an iconic building from the 1930’s, and is now documented as a national heritage site. The hotel was the place for glamorous social events and government receptions, and in fact whilst I was visiting there was …hush hush all I can say is the word Royal ….
The moment I walked through the door I felt at ease, in comfort, in style and ultimately relaxed.

It is unquestionably English Colonial in ts look and feeling, rattan wood, Butler service in the old wing, cocktails and a jazz/swing band playing but then whats wrong with tiffin and cocktails …”what what”…
I may joke but I thought it was beautiful and it also has a lovely view looking over the old Moorish style railway station, which looks stunning as the sun goes down, when the place takes on a wonderful glow.

If you have a few minutes I do recommend you go in and just wander. Find an old café and take in a book and just watch the world go by as it is a great way to get into a country’s sole.
Have a beautiful sleep, let The Butler do the work. Possibly sit in the Orchid room, use the magnificent Majestic Spa which is in the art nouveau style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s famous Willow Tearooms of Scotland, gosh who thought of Gentlemen and Butler’s mmmmm!!
Mercedes Car to Pick You Up…
1030 – 1230 – Enrich your mind
– Mosque, a major part of Malay culture

– KL City Gallery …..museum, learn enrich and take in

– Horse drawn carriage ride will take you past a cricket pitch and an English Church…so you’re not at Lords…..
– Temple, where you can see and experience Asian religion close up

1300 – 1600

3 hour stylist accompanied/personal shopper tour including some best bits of niche street food….

Prior to your day out, the stylist will ask you your wishes, then research and put together an itinerary…..and/or we can arrange a visit to one of Malaysia’s home grown fashion designers.
Recently I visited Dato’ Tom Abang Saufi, one of Malaysia’s top designer’s who has created batik fans all over the world…..How lovely would it be to have something, cool, colourful and original if you are visiting the islands….

1615 – 1730
Tea & Tin , no this is not some Sushi bar in Greenwich Village but a way to take part in something practical and see some living history. This was one of the key industries Kuala Lumpur was built around.

Here you can make your own piece of jewellery, goblets, wine cooler… but we suggest you have a relaxed tour, browse the shop, or put in your special request for something personal to be made and then enjoy a very tasty English style tea. The Foundry of Royal Selangor Pewter.

1800 – 1930 Time to stop, be pampered. Try the 90 minute Malaya massage where I had Frangipani and Paden leaf oil, normally reserved for Malay Weddings, so I was very lucky … The Spa is exactly how they should be, welcoming, quiet, reflective and very elegant. I first sat down to have my feet washed

and then my massage, after which I was genuinely super relaxed.
2015 Dinner at The Majestic – so civilized …band playing …where you can imagine you are in a Merchant Ivory period film.

1030 If you have energy or you are looking for a little romance we suggest the perfect way to wrap up your evening …
We can reserve a private cube/pod at The Sky Bar where you can look over the Petronas Twin Towers which will be lit up and dazzling…

Oh and for all you die hard romantics you can remember the ending to “Sleepless in Seattle” well I know it’s not New York but Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia, home to some of the finest chocolate in the world, so I am sure we could arrange a box of heart chocolates to go with your evening Champagne or alternatively she could listen to your discuss the football scores mmm!! What choices Jeeves!!
For the young ones you might see the dawn chorus come up….
Me I am very keen to experience the perfection of The Majestic Hotels Bed…

and should I need anything ….well there is a 24hr Butler service….What did they say about Butler’s being useful mmmm!!!
