Gentlemans Butler takes pride in introducing brands of excellence. Earlier this year we were very pleased to visit The Royal Exchange in The City of London to create our “The Royal Exchange, City of London luxury gifting” feature so we are very pleased to have returned, this time to look at Father’s Day.
Father’s Day is held on the third Sunday of June in the United Kingdom. Some say that the idea of Father’s Day may originate in pagan sun worship, seeing the sun as the father of the universe. Since the summer solstice occurs around the same time of year as Father’s Day, some people see a link between the two. It is generally perceived that the practice of celebrating Father’s Day in modern times comes from the US, where it has been celebrated since 1910.
As I get older I am increasingly fascinated to hear women talk about men, and men about women, discussing the way each gender thinks and their likes and dislikes, so these are my thoughts on some things that could well go down well for the father in your life.
At the top of the list I would probably say, think of things that are simple and involve lack of hassle. Sleep, food and drink are good things to start with. For many men, myself included we do like to be pampered but equally want to do this slightly incognito. And yes we do like a gift or 10!!
For those of you wanting inspiration, have a quick peek at Steve Martin in the film Parenthood. And then think what “DAD” or “MY MAN” might like to unwind from life.
The Royal Exchange is situated in the most beautiful buildings right next to Bank Underground station in the City of London. Not only will you find a beautiful array of brands and gifts, but importantly they are situated in a high calibre and hassle free environment, where you can also sit in the Grand Caféfor for a coffee, glass of bubbly and some food.
London is known for its excellence in supplying luxury lifestyle for Gentlemen. Many of these brands have been in existence for hundreds of years and are internationally known for their craftsmanship.
Our gift guide is for father, dad, daddy, pater, pops, husband, hus, lover or whatever nickname you have, trying to offer a range of prices suitable for sons, daughters, wives and girlfriends.
Thinking about what would be a perfect Father’s Day for me (if I was a father). A good sleep in my London flat. Breakfast with family, with yes some conversation and dare say mobile phones turned to off (oh Michael you cruel man!!!). A drive into the countryside, preferably near the sea, where we could enjoy a fine meal in a country pub and then a good stroll along the beach. To return to London for late afternoon tea, with a slice of good old fashioned tasty cake. After which settle in for an evening of my favourite movies with possibly a board game.
I think I would end my day a very happy man.
