The Connaught Grill welcomed two old friends for a conversation. An old friend and I reunited for dinner. We originally met at Heathrow Airport at four in the morning, travelling out to Egypt, where we were about to have two weeks of filming, from which we have lived off these stories ever since. A proper dinner at one of London’s top hotels is a perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle, let go, enjoy good conversation over a refined dinner.

We met as we always tend to do with a quip as I was talking with the charming lady from The Connaught Hotel who was telling me that the hotel stair carpet is the same as the one used in Buckingham Palace. After which she took our photo and escorted us to the restaurant.
I loved this, as it exuded, charm, courtesy, and some gentle humour all of which I think the world could do more of.

As we entered the hallowed residency of The Connaught Grill, we were met with a distinct professionalism and chose our seats, slightly tucked away but still enjoying the restaurant’s atmosphere.
The décor of the hotel is English class, whilst the grill has a chic wooden feel that reminds me slightly of a high-end Austrian or Nordic interior. Minimalist without being oppressive.
I must pay particular commendation to the focused lighting, giving focused lighting as opposed to a general flood of light.
I am afraid this was not a Vegan experience, something I have the highest respect for as my girlfriend is one, but I think you could safely say this was a meal for those who like an old school meal of meat, fish, steaks and scrummy puddings.
As one might expect we started with shampoo as my mother used to say…
A glass of Pol Roger NV GLS champagne in glasses that have a rounded square edge, matching the décor.

Switch off the outside world, switch on your senses and let your taste buds experience and savour.
A civilised and classy setting for letting a couple of 55-year olds relax and enjoy a good meal whilst recounting and putting the world to rights is not only a good experience but dare I say it a necessary one.
Le Flaneur, our luxury newsletter recently commented on conversation and the etiquette of such. Read the https://mailchi.mp/gentlemansbutler/birthday-celebrations-love-and-things-that-make-you-smile-6112339?e=b24492c61e about etiquette of listening and not putting ones phone on the table.
The Connaught Hotel and it’s contemporary grill hosted our evening sublimely and the starring roles performed superbly.
