Entering The Refinery is really like visiting your private members club. As you enter a smile greats you, your coat taken – you can have a chat or go and sit in the clients area with a television, newspapers and bowl of sweets. Its just for men. My therapist was equally upbeat with a more informal feel that many female salons. As I got ready the music that played was equally original. CLEANSING – Skin is steamed to open the pores and enable deep cleansing, whilst stimulating the blood flow to increase tissue oxygenation and nourishment. EXFOLIATION – SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque is applied to the skin – it contains Kaolin and Bentonite to draw out impurities, zinc which is healing and a 5% AHA blend to exfoliate. This is removed with tepid water and Simply Clean (cleanser).

COLD COMPRESSION – to cool and calm the skin and close pores.

DIRECT HIGH FREQUENCY TREATMENT MACHINE – Bathes skin in oxygen molecules and stimulates blood flow, plus helps to close pores, refine a coarse textured skin and has an antiseptic effect for skin prone to breakouts. Intensifies healing and drying out effect on papules and pustules.

REHYDRATION – For deep hydration, the SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque is applied and absorbed by the skin whilst a lymphatic drainage massage is undertaken by the therapist to improve waste removal and puffiness and pressure point massage to relax.

CALMING – The antioxidant therapy is incorporated with the application of the SkinCeuticals Vitamin C Firming Masque and a dose of the new Phloretin CF Gel and AOX+ Eye Gel to help correct visible signs of ageing, prevent against future environmental damage and increase collagen production.

SKIN PROTECTION – The treatment concludes with the application of a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen – either SkinCeuticals Sheer Mineral Defense or Ultra Facial Defense – and a recommended prescription of at-home SkinCeuticals products which includes daily use of the Phloretin CF Gel and Sheer Mineral UV Defense or Ultra Facial Defense sunscreens.
