Rena Spa, St. Paul’s is located within the 5-star Leonardo Royal, St. Paul’s hotel which stands in the shadow of London’s beautiful St. Paul’s Cathedral.
The Spa has a modern health club feel and anyone working in the City should put this in their diary.
The extensive spa facilities include an 18m swimming pool, , sauna, steam room and specialist thermal suites including a traditional Turkish Hammam and Laconium.
The Rena Spa St. Paul’s also features a unique Sun Therapy Lounge, which safely replicates natural sunlight to leave you with a naturally radiant glow all year round.
Standard of Service – Though the Spa offers a lot the changing rooms could be better and on my visit the treatment room was a little cold though the therapists are both friendly and proficient.
2 – Description of Service –
Having changed I was taken though the swimming pool area to The Hammam. Several times throughout the treatment one needs to take a shower where one has to walk out of the treatment room and use the shower for the swimming pool. Not any issue except privacy.
Hammam: The Hammam Ritual begins with cleansing. Whilst you lay on the traditional flat stone bed, the therapist washes way impurities using authentic black olive soap. This is followed by ‘purification’ a 20 minute steam to help open your pores. The steam session over, the therapist then uses a kese, rough massaging mitt and Hammam scrub to exfoliate and further cleanse the skin. Mineral rich mud is then applied all over the body to draw out impurities, these and the mud are then gently rinsed away under a warm shower and the skin is soothed, smoothed and polished with a generous application of perfumed oil and shea butter. My therapist was genuinely nurturing.
After my treatment my skin felt fantastic and was taken through to their relaxation area to have tea and wait for my massage. I had opted for the 90 minute version, which I believe delivers significantly more than the standard 60 minute version.
Deep Tissue Massage: This specialist massage is designed to release pain and tension in tight, stressed and aching limbs. Rich warm oils are generously applied to stretched muscles, whilst expert cross-fibre muscle techniques are used to disperse the buildup of lactic acid.
