Rémy Martin, luxury mixology at The Connaught

This Monday, 2nd November 2015 to be precise sees the return of my old love Rémy Martin to another one of my loves Soho, to be precise 19 Greek Street, an area where I started my film career and have many happy memories.
In fact though split by Regent Street the worlds of Mayfair and Soho are like a brotherly love, one maybe older and more refined and the other younger with a little more oil to burn in the midnight hour but do not be fooled they are both super stylish, can be a tad naughty, love good food and love to be surrounded by a beautiful lady or 2.

So it will come maybe as no surprise to hear that my 20’s and 30’s were spent in Soho and my 40’s have been much more Mayfair.
As we in the land of a tale or 2, particularly after several Rémy Martin’s and some fine food I have set the scene for you….

The Date – Monday 17th August 2015
The man known as The Butler has strolled through Berkeley Square and onto Mount Street to arrive at the said hour of 7 o’clock…
He was going to take part in a piece of theatre a play by the aptly name of “The Art of Mixology Experience”. It was a new play I was told with a very dapper lead actor, an Italian who was to be the star of the evening.
The Provocateur was my old friend Rémy Martin, and how suited to the role was he or possibly she, you never can tell!!

The Scene was the beautiful Champagne Room at The Connaught on Carlos Place in Mayfair…..
The Action – The room abuzz with anticipation, like any pre show, possibly a touch of nerves, last minute preparations, old friends saying hello and maybe one or two going “who she?”….

As the provocateur Rémy did his work and put smiley faces on the faces of our supporting cast the main actor was introduced …… drum roll please …. Yes the highly talented and convivial Ago Perrone, head mixologist at The Connaught was to play the role of The Italian. During his performance he would like a magician invite guests up on to his stage to pour, and chop and mix and enter into a unique performance all the while Mr Agostino Perrone would tell the audience the history of the cocktail, of ice, and tales from old, and how the cocktail developed and made its journey across the seas.

Meanwhile the while the Butler, maybe enjoying the perfections a little more nearly dropped a glass, luckily a supporting cast was on hand to save the day….
The recipes below were definitely part of the enjoyment of a superb evening from all concerned and I look forward to meeting my old friend the provocateur in Soho on Monday evening.
