As with much at Gentlemans Butler we like to bring you luxury experiences that are empowering and pampering whilst doing you good at the same day.
The Langham Hotel in Central London, a stone throw from the BBC and Oxford Circus is one of London’s top 5 star hotels, somewhere I have enjoyed before with their afternoon teas and cocktails in their award winning bar, and recently attended the launch of their refurbished Palm Court Restaurant, however as a lover of luxury Spa treatments I had not experienced their spa.

On a serious note stress is one of the modern world’s big issues and the western world has many areas that it needs to address about how we live our lives. This is something I have unfortunately experienced myself, leading to several years of re-adjusting my lifestyle. It is equally something that creeps up on one. Our senses, the need for relaxation and the body are definitely things we can learn from the East about.

I wanted to highlight an experience for men to stop, unwind and switch off for an afternoon which is exactly the purpose of the Spa and the Eastern Journey from Germaine De Capuccini treatment I experienced at The Chuan Spa, which is housed as part of The Langham Hotel right next door and converted from an old bank.

London was Europe’s first Chuan Spa. In English, the word Chuan means a serene course of water. In Chinese culture, flowing water is seen to be the source of life and balance. Their philosophy is steeped in the values of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Guests are offered the ultimate in relaxation through an individually planned holistic journey with therapies designed to re-balance and revitalize the body and soul.

THE EXPERIENCE
Eastern Journey from Germaine De Capuccini
2 hours and 30 minutes
Begin with a milk protein foot cleanse with the traditional Chinese wooden foot bath.
Journey through the East with an indulgent ritual begins with a feather welcome touch, commencing with a dark brown spice full body exfoliation, an exquisite mix of spices together with resins, woods, bamboo and poppy seeds, to gently buff and polish the body.
Continue the Eastern Journey with a red Saffron Body Massage texture of a silky gel rich in anti-oxidants and Vitamin E.
A silk foulard is used to gently stretch your neck and shoulders, arms, stomach, legs finishing with the feet.
This is followed by the Silk Body Envelopment including a full Silk Scalp massage treatment, to leave your skin exquisitely smooth and soft.

Experience ends with hot towel neck stretches and a spritz of aftershave or perfume.
Chuan Spa London offers six private treatment rooms, including a Couple’s Spa Suite, pre and post treatment relaxation area, a vitality pool, upgraded full male and female changing facilities, herbal steam rooms and saunas. Lifestyle facilities include a fully equipped fitness centre with state-of-the-art Technogym cardio and resistance equipment and free weights as well as a 16 metre swimming pool.
Langham hotel guests enjoy full access to the Chuan Spa facilities including the 16-metre pool, vitality pool, salt sauna and steam rooms.

Prior to my treatment I used the sauna and was looked after by Amber who is a true professional. As I have said on multiple occasions to work as a Spa practitioner you genuinely need to have a caring and calming disposition as to reap the rewards of your experience one should be open to letting go and being looked after. This may sound a very obvious comment but when one is wound up and highly strung letting go is not easy but if you do, it is highly rewarding.
I can certainly highly recommend and hope you enjoy as much as I did.
