Shepherds Bush was one of the very first places I lived in London, The BBC, Wogan (gosh that shows my age), Westfield, the market…
And Russia, I used to live with a flatmate from Archangel in the north of Russia, it has a beautiful culture, red cabbage and very cold winters.
I think it is fair to say Russia has a reputation for very beautiful ladies so when I saw that K West Spa offers treatments from Russie Blanche, a high end beauty brand started ironically by a model, I thought it was time to investigate.
It was not long after K West Hotel and Spa opened, which must be well over ten years ago, that I visited so was interested to see how the years had fared. Though I am sure changes have taken place, I was simply pleased to see the place felt at ease, in that the original idea worked, so no need to change.
Think chic, design, with a friendly feel aimed at a young international clientele, attracting those from the music and media industries who enjoy the proximity to the nearby O2 Shepherds Bush Empire and the Apollo. Situated in Shepherds Bush, the hotel is on the doorstep of Westfield shopping centre.
I visited to experience the two hour Russie Blanche Experience and to see the unique ‘Snow Paradise’,
which mimics the Finnish experience of alternating between freezing and steamy environments. The spa also features a twinkling hydrotherapy pool, sanarium, sauna, dry flotation tank, aromatic herbal steam room and the fully equipped K Fit gymnasium. I loved the twin foot soak area where you can use an array of scrubs.
K Spa was the first place in the UK to offer the luxurious Russie Blanche treatments and products, including the signature treatment which replicates a Russian Baniya Body Ritual.
I was welcomed by a young and vibrant staff and it was plain to see the spa was there to be used, a mother & daughter, two international ladies, a man and woman sleeping in the rest area, so there was a good feeling.
My Polish therapist Beata was very happy to let me know what was happening but equally then let me just switch off.
Each treatment uses precious ingredients which help increase the body’s ability to fight stress and fatigue and boost the immune system. Feel your senses come alive with the contrasting warmth of the Russian Baniya and the coolness of the Russian winters. Your journey will be tailored from the following:

Afterwards my body felt smooth, invigorated and muscles relaxed.
One thing I should add is to use their relaxation room after which I felt many may forget. Well worth it.
