JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, Luxury Mayfair Food Safari is a rather fun way to enjoy a variety of high-end cuisine.
The Hotel, JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, will celebrate its 90th Anniversary on 14th May 2019 so this seemed like a perfect opportunity to detail our relationship with this prestigious luxury Park Lane hotel. Since the inception of Gentlemans Butler in 2011 it has been our pleasure to be associated with a hotel that has such strong links to the world of film and entertainment, which has been a large part of my life and I myself celebrate 30 years in the media this year.
Grosvenor House has undergone a multi-million pound full refurbishment project which has seen an update of the entire hotel, creating a new Executive Lounge and two new Royal Suites.
This is a hotel my grandfather worked in in the 1960’s and holds special connections with our Queen as The Great Room which seats 2000 guests and was once an ice rink where the young Queen Elizabeth II and her sister Margaret learnt to ice skate as children and has also had a total refresh and is as popular today for VIP, celebrity and society events as it has been for the past 90 years.
Following our attendance at their celebrations I was able to really earmark its unique qualities. Though it is still definitely a high-end hotel it has a lot of positive energy.
The doo reminded me of a rather decadent 20’s party going into the early hours, and though you certainly do not need to party to the wee hours I think you will find this a very friendly hotel with all the different cuisine styles working very well.
I recently had the pleasure of spending a lovely afternoon on “a culinary journey” a Feast for the Senses where we had welcome drinks in the Park Room (an elegant velvet and cream lounge overlooking Hyde Park and where afternoon tea is served as well as vintage cocktails and lights lunches).
A starter at RUYA London (opened in June 2018 serving amazing Anatolian, Turkish cuisine and is nestled beside Corrigan’s Mayfair).
The main course was served at Corrigan’s Mayfair (wonderful British/Irish cuisine).
Dessert & Bourbon at JW Steakhouse (JW Steakhouse with its famous Bourbon Bar with a stock of over 300 rare, single malt and pre-prohibition bourbons).
returning home for a snooze and to come down from a cheesecake heaven I started
to remember that I myself had been on a journey of sorts over the years at this
hotel from fulsome steaks to traditional afternoon teas, dancing with
debutantes, schmoozing with performers and enjoying succulent English fair at
Corrigans. In fact, it was only Ruya I had not been to before and what a treat
that was. Ruya offers luxury with authenticity and was a real joy to experience
a modern Turkish culinary experience.
On a personal level Corrigans is very much my kind of restaurant. Fantastic British Cuisine, hearty wines and drinks all set in a upmarket but cosy atmosphere with friendly service.
My visit was with a friend for her birthday and I do remember the libations were rolling. Lovely food and a lovely evening.
In the lead up to Christmas 2015 I was invited to attend The Russian Debutante Ball uses The Great Room which still hosts every year balls for the great and the good.
I must admit I had not checked my dinner jacket prior to the event and because I had lost so much weight was rather on the large side. I do remember dancing the waltz and keeping in mind my strides were where they should be. The Butler should have known better, but makes for amusing memories and I hasten to say the Ball, the ladies and the hotel looked resplendent.
On a glorious July summer day in 2015 we visited for a traditional English Afternoon Tea, and chatted, whilst being looked after, overlooking Hyde Park and seeing the red buses and London cabs drive up and down Park Lane. How very English.
This was one of the very first features for Gentlemans Butler in December 2011. I visited with a friend and I remember we feasted like a king and queen and this was the first time I experienced their famous cheesecake, and I still can remember the taste.
Do take a look, whether you are local or live further afield, you will find a friendly face and lots to offer. Without any arm pulling I have always had good experiences.
