Perfect for large groups or in my opinion early Summer or Autumn visits.

London to Lisbon
A very easy flight into Lisbon airport, and then a very polite chauffeur service taking about 40 minutes easy drive to Epic Sana. I spent 4 nights at the resort which I feel is probably a perfect length for what is a long weekend vacation in the sun. These kind of vacations do need to be easy, with easy travel, and a place you are made to feel at ease and welcome.

I certainly did.
The Epic Sana Style
I felt very welcome, loved the marine and gold colour schemes and found all the staff genuinely welcoming.

Luxury style is a key element to Gentlemans Butler and walking down to breakfast with the staff in their creamy white outfits really does give a good feeling.

Epic Sana Cuisine
The food whether by the pool or in the buffet restaurant, for me is spot on. Its high quality, but simple, pretty healthy and tasty, whether you are eating the salads, burgers, chicken….

One is not necessarily eating Michelin star food but for a vacation in the sun I personally do not think you want things that are taxing, but healthy food that’s good for the soul. I want a tasty breakfast of fruits, yoghurts, pastries and fresh and light poolside food and evening meals that hopefully give you a taste of the place you are visiting and leave you feeling good as you wind down for the day.

As spoken about earlier there is a time and place for different styles. On my final night I was brought a selection of cheeses, local wine, and absolutely moreish Portuguese cakes.

Every day the gentleman running the pool restaurant met me with a smile and passion, got to know my taste very quickly and knew how I liked my coffee.

Looking after your Guests
It’s all about making clients feel they are the only one, and these small touches really do makes a difference. In many ways the best way to talk about a hotel room is visually. They really are very well fitted out and very importantly quiet.

Sometimes the most important factors are simple in that on a summer break you want to return from an afternoon by the sea or pool and collapse in a cool room, with fresh bedding, in peace, open the patio doors and let the sea breeze in, all in all letting the body completely relax.

Special moments….. walking down for breakfast and being greeted by a smile and some fresh and tasty food …….

Special moments ……..after a sleep, shower, moisturiser have a walk around the hotel grounds…

Fit Suncream
The first thing you notice is obviously the way it looks, but when you start using the product the fragrance and feel of the cream seems to add to lying in the sun. I love the style of packaging and when you are in a luxury hotel, having a chic looking product sat by your towels is an added bonus. Perfect addition – www.fitskincare.co.uk

The Beach
Loved the cliff faces and invigorating sea breezes

The pools – Perfect for just chilling in the sun….

The Spa really was my only disappointment. It looks beautiful, with the therapists wearing super smart outfits and the treatments rooms are large and quiet but the passion, love and attention to being really pampered and looked after was not there. This could have been the fact I am a spa connoisseur or just unlucky, maybe! A warm smile, the ability to look after the guest totally and some really great simple treatments I think would be a better route. I think the real test is to see if a spa can do a fantastic simple massage.

Perception is a really interesting thing and particularly relating to travel websites. Their website which though looks slick in my opinion does not tell the story of the hotel. I looked at the website and genuinely was impressed by how it looked, but could not easily find out information and importantly felt it did not do justice to the luxury side of the hotel.

Apart from the weather which was mixed but that’s part of the world now and my spa experience I had a lovely stay because I actually felt most of the really important things they got spot on.

The hotel looked good, great food, friendly staff, lovely setting, very clean, high standard of interiors and perfect to go with your other half for about 4 days of pretty much doing nothing… with options if you want them….

Great for early summer when typically the temperatures 20-27 which I think is spot on. Crash out by the pool, read a book, sleep, be fed, switch your brain off and go for some beautiful walks along a stunning coastline then head back to the rat race…
I did just that.

Obligado to Epic Sana Algarve and a special thank you to Margarides and Jose, the lunchtime manager, who optimises excellent service.
