The Christmas holidays give the chance to catch up with old friends. Recently Gentlemans Butler took the opportunity to have a Christmas lunch, which I did with an old friend of mine from school.
We both live in south west London so met at Peter Jones and then a quick walk up Draycott Avenue arrived at The Admiral Codrington which is tucked away along a quiet side street.

The pub & restaurant had a good flow of people without feeling overcrowded. Perfect for a good catch up.
I immediately felt at ease as the staff are friendly, without being too over the top and looked like they had been working as a team for some time so were totally at ease.

Seated just on the edge of the restaurant, some olives and bread under away, a bottle of Shiraz opened and poured and the gossip of two old school friends started.
Yes men do gossip!!, but as gentlemen the repartee is convivial, well certainly that is the intention.
Three and a half hours later we got up and left. I cannot remember the last time I had that length of lunch.

The Admiral Codrington, located at 17 Mossop Street, is a cosy but lively pub in the heart of Chelsea with a ‘all weather’ heated beer garden and award winning restaurant.

You can choose from a light lunch under the retractable roof, an intimate dinner in one of the booths, or a selection of delicious snacks in our bar paired with a pint of ale.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the Kings Road and Sloane Avenue on arrival you will be rewarded with a selection of fine ales (The Cod has just received a Cask Marque Award), a beautiful wine list (meticulously picked by Master of Wine, Tim Atkin) or even a classic cocktail (using the finest super-premium brands such as Grey Goose & Woodford Reserve).

The Admiral Codrington has been featured for the sixth year running in the Michelin Guide: Eating Out in Pubs with a “Green Man Recognition for Excellence” – testament to the level of quality that is aimed for across all the special menus ……….including the burger selection offered on Wednesdays.
For starters we had Portland crab and a Ham hock ballotine and then shared a wonderful bowl of battered salted squid. My friend had the Black Angus Sirloin steak and I the Portland crab linguine and for puddings sticky toffee and Apple, Pear & Sultana crumble.
Both of us would certainly come back and thought the service to be excellent. Of the dishes we ate we thought the squid, Portland Crab, Linguine and Toffee Pudding was the best.

Though we did not try the pub section in or out I really love the look, situation and the fact the pub is tucked away I feel is a real asset.
Sometimes one just wants to turn the phone off, unwind and relax and felt this a perfect place to do that.
