Throughout his travels, Charles Heidsieck embodied contemporary French glamour. With his distinguished charm and knack for business, he captivated America, becoming a prominent figure of fashionable society in just a few months.
Thanks to his easy-going nature, elegance and breeding, Charles focused on making a name for himself and for his champagne.
While American high society fought to invite him and his champagne. The Americans dubbed him “Champagne Charlie”, a nickname soon popularized by a song.
Years later, The House decided to create a Champagne Charlie cuvée in tribute to the audacity of its founder. 5 vintages exist: 1979, 1981 1982, 1983 and 1985.
In addition to the quality of these wines, no longer available, the powerful heritage of the cuvée has assured the Charles Heidsieck legend.
The Origins of Charles Heidsieck
Charles is a confirmed traveller and free-spirited, smooth-talking gentleman entrepreneur, focused on his champagne business. His elegant eloquence is much admired. His impetuosity is impressive. His champagnes embody his personality: emblematic and unique.
1822: Charles-Camille Heidsieck is born.
Little Charles grew up in the midst of grapes, loved by his mother, Emilie Henriot, and his sisters, in a family ruled by Reims traditions and Prussian rigour. Well-educated, he stands out for his integrity and elegance.
AT 29 YEARS OLD, Charles took his destiny in hand and founded a House in his image. His audacity, adventures and the renown of his wines would make him a legend in his time.
In 2011, the Descours family took over the House with the aim of ensuring its international renown.

The Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace.
On a lovely summer’s day in September this sublime royal setting saw the gathering of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world, many of which had never been seen in the UK before.

Hampton Court is a Grade I listed royal palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, Building of the palace began in 1514 for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, the chief minister of King Henry VIII. The palace went on to become one of Henry’s most favoured residences; soon after acquiring the property, he arranged for it to be enlarged so that it might more easily accommodate his sizeable retinue of courtiers. Along with St James’ Palace, it is one of only two surviving palaces out of the many the king owned. The palace is currently in the possession of Queen Elizabeth II and the Crown.

So, you can see how this all fits together and why Gentlemans Butler should attend, with dapper chaps, driving automobiles of distinction, whilst sipping a champagne of pedigree whilst nibbling of one of London’s premier food hampers, in a setting which King Henry VIII a man who was not shy in enjoy the finer things of life in a regal setting.
I like the name Charles, yes you might say that’s shallow, but I do. I like the fact it’s a person’s name as opposed to a brand which makes me feel closer.
I like the fact they sell to the trade as opposed to the high street. I feel it gives pedigree and I like the fact the fact it has class.

I like the taste, why, I just do. I am not going to say anymore because I do not need to, but I highly recommend you try if you like the things you have heard, just drink and enjoy like Champagne Charlie.
