The first day of spring is always a lovely time of year. Whether it’s your personal desire for new shoots in your life or just that wonderful excitement to feel the warmth of the sunshine the arrival of Easter is a special time of year.
So if you are an international traveller, travelling into London for shopping, want to treat someone special or meet up with friends afternoon tea at the Langham would be perfect.
I chose to take a special friend of mine out for tea, something that both of us like. I could not help noticing two girlfriends next to us joking that they had been there 4 hours and were checking with the hotel staff that they were still OK. Of course was the reply..
For me meeting up in the daytime is often more special, either a long lunch or afternoon tea, both wonderful options, as it often feels a touch decadent to be taking time off during the working day.
There are of course many wonderful hotels in London but with my television routes the Langham Hotel positioned opposite the BBC’s Broadcasting House on Portland Place with its rich history is always very special.
I love their pale pink branding and genuinely friendly service.
There famous Executive Pastry Chef should be praised for her inventiveness. Cherish Finden will feature as a Judge on the soon to launch ‘Bake Off: Crème de La Crème’ due to broadcast on BBC2 later in March.
Afternoon Tea is of course a regular offering but book in for a very creative and tasty Easter Tea, perfect for your bunny, whoever that maybe.
With the season of Lent in full flow, thoughts of Easter’s celebratory chocolate delights are always an anticipated highlight of the Spring calendar.
The Easter Afternoon Tea reflects the tradition of new beginnings associated with Easter egg and the much loved figurehead of The Easter Bunny. At the start of the tea, guests are presented with a Lemon Posset amuse bouche to wet the palette, before indulging in a selection of five exquisite pastries inspired by Wedgwood collections.
The playful ‘Bunny See-Saw’ is a soft, melt-in-the-mouth delight made with 64% chocolate mousseine, raspberry and pistachio finanicer. The ‘Chicken or the egg’ piece features a playful design of cartoon chickens and eggs on a finger lemon tart.
‘The Rabbits Warren’ pastry is served in a towering glass, representing the tunnel journey made by the Easter rabbit, served with Milk chocolate Chantilly made of the bespoke No.150 Langham chocolate. ‘Sunny Side Up’ is a lively creation with a chocolate fried egg balanced atop two cascading Chocolate Easter eggs. The final ‘Bunny Show Jumping’ creation represents the three stages of show jumping, with three Easter bunny figurines amongst a white chocolate mousse and tropical jelly creation.
The Afternoon Tea is served with a selection of scones from the Palm Court bakery and a delicious selection of sandwiches including the Truffled duck egg brioche, Smoked salmon asparagus and rye, Cucumber, cream cheese, chives, Peppered beef pastrami and red Leicester coleslaw and Corn-fed chicken, golden sultana, carrot bread.
And of course if you really want some Easter Luxury book yourself in for a luxury spa treatment as well…….. Luxury Spa & The Chuan, Langham Hotel London
Lovely, relaxing, tasty, and a perfect place to catch up with a good friend….
