Gentleman’s Butler provides upmarket lifestyle advice for Gentlemen focusing on the Arts, Entertainment, Grooming, Ladies Gifts, Style and Travel.
Why did I, Michael H Grenville start Gentlemans Butler:
I felt that I not only had something to offer but that there was something missing in the media? I wanted to offer a viewpoint that was a little gentler, with some charm, to give Gentlemen a resource, through our editorial and soon to be our services to explore life’s style.
So what does Gentlemans Butler stand for?
I am the son of Pamela Isabel Grenville and Reginald Basil Dupont Grenville. My mother was a true lady, who exemplified the ethos of grace, style, and etiquette, cultural and social appreciation. She could cook, sew, flower arrange, knew how to put on a great dinner party, instigate conversation and was a fantastic mother.
My father, a Virgo like me, worked hard, having left school at the age of 14 and through hard work and diligence created a network of companies in the building sector. He was a man with a dry wit and drank whiskey and ginger ale, such a 1970’s thing I always think. The youngest of 4 children I believe Gentlemans Butler embodies these beliefs.
My love for London spiritually comes from my grandfather who was impeccably dressed in his Camel coat and brogues shined to perfection, a fantastic raconteur from Holland Park. He was definitely a true London Gent.
This is only of course part of my beliefs as my love of meeting people, creativity and social history has played a big part.
My career in television, media and entertainment has given a real insight to the world.
I believe one can say “thank you” for example in many ways but say it.
Excellence can be buying a fresh loaf of bread or a pair of fine Italian silk gloves.
Expensive does not equal quality nor does cheap mean rubbish.
Though I went to public school I am not a public school clone.
I like kind hearted people but also love an amusing rogue propping up the bar.
I believe whole heartedly in love and romance which might be a weekend in Monaco or a boyfriend taking his girlfriend to see his favourite football team.
Luxury has been the buzz word for the last 10/15 years. VIP used to be, now its luxury.
If you think about James Bond he has that relatively unique mix of machismo and sensuality. This is key to Gentlemans Butler’s thinking, knowing about style, grooming, fragrance whilst loving boys with toys and classic adventure.
Gentlemen are not machines or James Bond, so often need some help, which is where Gentlemans Butler comes in.
For me Gentlemans Butler is about class, distinction and finding the unique.
To give it a Hollywood feel it’s about “living the dream” whether this is for an hour or for your whole life.
