Walking along from Pont Street having caught the 22 bus, yes this is my favourite bus, the skies were blue, the sun bright and the air cold. The weather could have been metaphor for the treatment I was about to have from the very personable Sophia Woods.

For those of you who may remember where Amanda Lacey’s Beauty Salon was situated on Walton Street, The White Room is there now.
The salon is quiet, smart and understated and that was just the way it was going to stay. White and organic colours and textures, there is a feeling of purity about the salon.
Sophia’s calming Irish lilt showcases this as she looks as she preaches and at some point in my treatment mentioned that if she has a client and they seek a beauty regime from her and did not follow her advice, then she would prefer not to treat them further. This was the first time I had ever heard this, but she said it with no malice, just an air of professionalism and care for her clients. “Power to your elbow” I say, I wish more people had conviction like that.

Sophia uses Hommage, a fantastic luxury grooming product, that I knew about but not experienced before. Starting with a double essential cleanse, then onto an application of diamond dust, an effective exfoliation using cultured black diamonds combined with nutrient rich silver spheres to exfoliate and deep cleanse the skin.
Diamond dust is one of the rare ingredients able to penetrate a man’s hair growth to achieve maximum results. Fast absorbing massage oil is applied to begin the lymphatic drainage and acupressure massage focusing on stress relief points to encourage deep relaxation and facial rejuvenation. Following the massage, a black silt mask is applied to further deep cleanse, calm and tone the skin. Finally a light moisturiser is applied to hydrate and soothe the skin.
Sophia has noticed an increase in men wanting facial treatments for various skin complaints…. Sophia Says “Although the face treatments do offer relaxation, I am more focused on getting results and passing my advice on to the client to ensure they are carrying out the correct home care and to get the best results. “
Genuinely different with a great emphasis on massage, I walked out feeling calmer and my skin visibly glowing.
